Interior with a Woman Sewing and a Child is a 1668 genre painting by artist Pieter de Hooch painted during the Dutch Golden Age. As usual, Hooch revels in the light effects on different textures and fabrics here. From the patterned and cold floor to the glorious golden fall of light on the cushion on the chair to the right of the sewing woman. As is typical of this artist and many others of the Dutch Golden Age, light is studied as an animate character.
Pieter de Hooch: Interior with a Woman Sewing and a Child is in the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid, Spain.
